How we make money
We work with an affiliate model and classify content editorially according to our methodology. Here's what that means.
Affiliate links
Many links on this site to providers (e.g. Bitpanda, Bybit, Kraken) are affiliate links. If you sign up via one of our links and deposit money, a commission may be earned. You generally don't incur any additional cost or worse conditions.
Commission model
Providers either pay us a one-off flat fee per new customer or a percentage share of their fees — usually just for the first few months. The commission amount varies significantly between providers and, per our methodology, should not influence the rating.
Our transparency rules
So you can follow how we work, we stick to clear rules:
- We rate providers strictly based on our public criteria (see Methodology).
- Providers cannot buy a better rating — payment, per our methodology, should not influence ranking or scores.
- We also consider providers without affiliate programs (e.g. when they offer a suitable option for Austrian users).
- We clearly mark sponsored content — currently we do not have any paid content.
The presentation and classification of providers does not follow commission levels but our published rating criteria. If a rating seems unbalanced to you, let us know — we'll review and, if appropriate, correct it publicly.
